On Thursday 19th March another milestone in the project was reached in the erection of the platform 2 canopy.
Milestone – “a significant stage or event in the development of something” is exactly what this latest news article is all about.
The main support steelwork for the new canopy on platform 2 has now arrived at Bury Bolton Street station and assembly has now begun.
Work to restore the boiler of 80097 is taking steps forward as seen in the latest pictures below with work currently focusing on the foundation ring.
After the highly successful launch of the East Lancashire Railway’s latest fundraising appeals we now need a passionate volunteer to champion them! As news and updates are a vital cornerstone of any fundraising effort, our ideal candidate will see to it that all donors are made aware of any ongoing progress as well as looking at new ways to attract more funds and intuitively collect more donations.
We can now announce that the total so far stands at £21,000 which are extremely grateful to all that have given so far.
However, we do have a significant amount more pledged to us from various sources and so by the end of 2015 we will have raised around £75,000.
We do have many major funding hurdles to overcome throughout the year and we are hopeful that with your help we will be able to keep on fundraising for 80097, the Canopy and Dining Coaches.
Work is progressing on the installation of the canopy on platform 2. We now have foundation’s for 3 posts with the 4th now ready for concrete to be poured on Wednesday 11th February.
